Nathan does the same thing. I love it!! He sits down with a piece(s) of whatever kind of paper and scissors and just starts cutting it into little tiny peices. He adores doing that and he is so focused and in the “zone”. I don’t interrupt him when he is doing this. He usually keeps the “mess” contained to a rather small part of the room. I figure he’s working on his fine motor skills!

I’ve tried this. As soon as I turn my back, Sofia becomes a human shreddar. She takes the sizzors to the colored construction paper (the kind of stuff I would have given my right arm for as a kid) and cuts it into a million pieces that end up on the floor like confetti. It drives me crazy. Maybe she needs to take a lesson in imagination from your kids. Or I need to learn to appreciate her kind of imagination?

I’ve also learned my lesson with play-doh, markers, crayons, and glue. I think my kids are more likely to make a bomb with these supplies than art. But I’m still inspired by your kids and I keep trying.
